During the interaction, Jaishankar briefed the Chinese leader on recent developments in India-China relations and underlined the importance of sustained engagement at the leadership level to advance bilateral ties.
Jaishankar arrived in China on Monday for a two-day visit to participate in the SCO ministerial conclave. This marks his first trip to China since the sharp deterioration in India-China relations following the deadly clashes in the Galwan Valley in June 2020.
The meeting comes at a time when both countries continue efforts to stabilise relations amid ongoing border tensions in eastern Ladakh.
