RJD chief Lalu Prasad's son and Bihar leader Tej Pratap Yadav has expressed willingness to contest the upcoming state elections from Mahua, his former constituency.

"If the public demands, then I will have to contest the Bihar elections from Mahua," Tej Pratap said on Thursday during a rally, his first since Lalu expelled him from RJD for 6 years. He was seen carrying a white-green flag with 'Team Tej Pratap Yadav' written on it, indicating he might contest the polls and go it alone.

The former Bihar minister, wearing a white kurta and sporting s green cap, was greeted by enthusiastic supporters of Mahua at the rally. According to reports, every vehicle in his convoy carried the white-green flag and slogans were raised in his favour.

Tej Pratap declared that he is not ready to live under anybody's control and that he would make the next political move based on the public's demand. "I live under the will of the public. Whatever the public wants, I will do ...," he said.

The expelled RJD leader, however, did not reveal as to which party he will contest the Bihar elections from. "From which party I will contest, that will be seen later," Tej Pratap added.

RJD supremo Lalu Prasad's decision to expel his elder son from the party came a day after Tej Pratap posted pictures with a woman 'Anushka Yadav' confessing to be "in a relationship" with her. He is fighting a bitter divorce battle with his estranged wife Aishwarya Rai, granddaughter of former Bihar Chief Minister Daroga Prasad Rai. Tej Pratap married Aishwarya in 2018 but filed for divorce within just five months.

Soon after his expulsion from the RJD just ahead of the crucial Bihar Assembly polls, analysts were of the view that Tej Pratap might form a new party or ally with some other party. He had formed multiple organisations in the past when he was not given importance in the RJD.
