Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on March 20 confirmed that match ticket holders will get free Metro rides on match days at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Moneycontrol had earlier reported that Bengaluru Metro and RCB were in talks to offer free Metro rides for match ticket holders.

RCB said fans will receive a metro ticket along with their match ticket. Ticket holders will have to scan the QR code at the metro gate while entering or exiting stations on match day.

The nearest metro stations are Cubbon Park and MG Road. The facility is valid for one onward and one return journey only on match day. The QR code is non-transferable.

Sources said Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) will receive upfront revenue, with RCB paying around Rs 100 per ticket (covering onward and return journey fares for group tickets), depending on the number of tickets sold. The move is also expected to reduce the number of private vehicles entering the Central Business District on match days.

A similar arrangement has been in place between Chennai Metro and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) since 2023.

The 19th edition of the IPL T20 league will begin on March 28, when defending champions RCB face Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. During the season, RCB will play five matches at the home ground in Bengaluru and two in Raipur.

The franchise also said tickets will be sold only through the official RCB website and app. Tickets for Phase 1 will be released soon. Entry for spectators will be only from Cubbon Road and Link Road.

It also said fans can pay and pre-book limited parking slots (Garuda Mall, St Joseph’s Indian High School, St Joseph’s Boys High School, and Freedom Park) while purchasing tickets. Pick-up and drop shuttle services (to Cubbon Road) will be available from these parking facilities.

Bengaluru Metro will also extend last train departures from all six terminal stations up to 1 am on match days. Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) will also extend bus timings and operate additional services to and from the stadium.
