Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on the Congress party over the recent remarks of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi while referring to President Droupadi Murmu’s address to the joint sitting of the Parliament.

“Droupadi Murmu ji has come here from a tribal family. Her mother tongue is not Hindi, it is Odia. She inspired the Parliament today in a wonderful way, gave a speech. But the royal family of Congress has started insulting her. A member of the royal family said that the tribal daughter gave a boring speech. Another member went one step further and called the President a poor thing. They find the speech of a tribal daughter boring,” the Prime Minister said addressing a rally in Delhi.

This is an insult to the 10 crore tribal brothers and sisters of our country, as well as to every poor citizen, PM Modi said, adding that the Congress party only likes abusing people and defaming India in foreign countries.

Delhi has to be very cautious, he said ahead of the polls in the national capital.

Earlier today, President Murmu addressed a joint sitting of the Parliament, which marked the start of the Budget session. She emphasised the government's commitment to inclusive development, stating the success of a nation is ensured only when it adheres to fundamental principles.

In her speech, President Murmu detailed key welfare initiatives aimed at empowering marginalised communities. The President reiterated the government's commitment to a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India), emphasising a saturation approach to welfare schemes.

When Sonia Gandhi was asked to comment on the President’s customary speech, she said, “The President was getting very tired by the end. She could hardly speak, poor thing."

She was accompanied by her children Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. “Boring? No comments? Repeating the same thing again and again?" Rahul Gandhi stated in reference to Murmu's speech in the Parliament.
