After collecting credible evidence of cross-border involvement in the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 people, India launched precision strikes under ‘Operation Sindoor’ on May 7, targeting nine terror dens in Pakistan and PoK.

The strikes effectively destroyed several camps belonging to terror groups such as Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), and Hizbul Mujahideen.
Key targets included the Gulpur and Abbas camps in Kotli, and the Barnala camp in Bhimber. The Gulpur camp functioned as a major base for Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists active in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri and Poonch regions, while Abbas camp was primarily used to train LeT suicide bombers, while the Barnala camp focused on weapons training, IED-making, and jungle warfare techniques.
The Indian Army officials said that Operation Sindoor was backed by an extensive intelligence effort, involving in-depth analysis of the terror network to pinpoint multiple camps and training facilities.
The Army noted that the operation was conducted with a strong emphasis on ethics and caution, enforcing strict self-imposed restrictions to prevent any collateral damage and ensuring that only terrorist targets were eliminated, with no harm caused to civilians.
