Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said that former PM Indira Gandhi was not scared by the US' 7th fleet during the Bangladesh war. The Congress leader made these remarks during the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha.
The Congress MP said that even before the Operation Sindoor began, the Opposition committed itself that we will stand like a rock with the Forces.
"The moment #OperationSindoor began, in fact even before it began, the Opposition committed itself, all the parties, that we will stand like a rock with the Forces and with the elected Govt of India. We heard the odd jibe, the sarcastic remarks from some of their leaders. But we said absolutely nothing. This was something that was agreed among all the senior leadership of the INDIA Alliance. We are very proud that as an Opposition, we stood united as we should have," said Gandhi.
He further said that if the govt wants to use the Indian armed forces, then political will and freedom of operation.
"Whenever I go and shake hands with any army personnel, I see him as a tiger, ready to fight for the country. However, a tiger needs complete freedom, you can't tie a tiger down. There are two key words: political will and freedom of operation. If you want to use the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force, then you must first have 100 per cent political will," said Gandhi.
