IndiGo crisis: Parliamentary panel to summon airline chiefs, DGCA over mass disruptions
A parliamentary panel is set to summon senior executives of private airlines as well as officials from India’s civil aviation regulator after the massive wave of IndiGo flight cancellations left thousands of passengers stranded at airports nationwide, reported PTI on Sunday.
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, chaired by JD(U) leader Sanjay Jha, is expected to call top airline officials and representatives of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Civil Aviation Ministry to explain the unprecedented disruption and present measures to prevent a repeat.
A panel member, as cited by PTI, said the committee has taken “serious note” of the chaos faced by travellers as cancellations and delays continued for a sixth straight day. Even MPs travelling to Delhi for the Winter Session were hit by IndiGo cancellations and delays by other carriers, the member said, adding that lawmakers had also received complaints about surging airfares triggered by the crisis.

Western Railway Public Relations Officer Ajay Solanki said additional services and augmented capacity have been arranged to absorb the sudden passenger load caused by widespread flight cancellations.
According to officials, a Sabarmati–Delhi special train will run on December 7 and 9, departing at 10:55 pm and reaching Delhi at 3:15 pm the following day.
