This coordinated assault, the first of its kind against Pakistan since the 1971 war, was ordered in retaliation for the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives, most of them tourists.
The Indian Armed Forces launched a major anti-terror operation named Operation Sindoor in the early hours of Wednesday.
The operation follows a recent attack in which terrorists opened fire on 26 civilians in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.

- Operation Sindoor was a joint operation of the Indian Army and the Indian Air Force which targeted terror infrastructure across the border.
- Precision strike weapon systems of the three forces, the Indian Army, Navy and Air Force, were used in the attacks, including the loitering munitions.
- The coordinates for the attacks on terrorist camps inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir were provided by the intelligence agencies.
- The attacks were carried out from Indian soil only.
- Altogether, nine (9) sites have been targeted and no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted.
