Amid the heightened tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack, Indian Air Force Chief Air Marshal Amar Preet Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, sources told Moneycontrol. Sources say that the meeting is underway. No other detail has been shared so far. The meeting comes day after PM Modi met Indian Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi. Last week, PM Modi had chaired the second CCS meeting at his 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence in the National Capital. It should be noted that last week, during a meeting with the chief of all three armed forces, PM Modi had given a go ahead for any operational response to Pakistan.
In a meeting on April 29 last week, PM Modi had chaired a high-level meeting that was attended by Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and chiefs of the three wings of the armed forces and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. Expressing his full trust in the armed forces, PM Modi had reportedly told the chiefs of armed forces that they had "full freedom" to choose the course of response against Pakistan.
Since the April 22 attack that killed 26 men in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley, Pakistan has been resorting to unprovoked firing across the Line of Control. Sunday marked the 10th consecutive day of Pakistani forces violating the fragile ceasefire.
