As part of a major diplomatic offensive, the government will send several all-party delegations to different countries, starting next week, to expose Pakistan-sponsored terrorism on the world forum.

The diplomatic exercise aimed at presenting India’s stance against Pakistan on terror comes in the wake of Operation Sindoor — the Indian offensive against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam in which 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed.

Senior leaders, including MPs, of various political parties, including those from the opposition, have been sounded out by the government and some parties have also given their go-ahead to the presence of their members for the diplomatic exercise. Read More

City-based Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) has announced the cancellation of its academic memorandum of understanding with a Turkish institute, following the countr'ys support of Pakistan in the wake of tensions with India.

MANUU, a central university, announced cancelling the arrangement with Yunus Emre Institute, Turkiye for a diploma course, with immediate effect.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the varsity's registrar said the decision was taken in protest against Turkiye's "support" for Pakistan’s terrorist activities in the backdrop of India-Pakistan tensions.

The central university said it signed a MoU with the Turkish institute in 2020 for a period of five years under which a diploma in Turkish language was started at the School of languages, linguistics and Indology in MANUU.

A visiting professor who was appointed for the course has already returned to his country, the official informed.

Following Turkiye's support to Pakistan amid heightened tensions with India, multiple educational institutions here, including Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), have either suspended their collaboration with universities from there, or are considering such a move, officials had said recently. -- PTI

India has not declared Operation Sindoor completely over. What exists now is a sensitive halt in operations—some may call it a ceasefire, but military leaders have deliberately avoided that word. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Friday said that India should have taken more severe action to eliminate the terrorists and to ensure that Pakistan does not support them in the future, following the Pahalgam terror attack.

He also raised questions about US President Donald Trump's repeated statements claiming that his administration helped broker a "ceasefire" between India and Pakistan.

"26 people were killed in Kashmir (Pahalgam) by terrorists. Pakistan is the one which is helping and sheltering terrorists, and according to me, we got an opportunity and utilising it we should have taken more severe action against terrorists, and should have ensured that Pakistan does not help and cooperate with terrorists again, and terroris should have been destroyed," Siddaramaiah told reporters here. -- PTI

The Indian Army on Thursday said it will pursue confidence building measures to reduce the "alertness level" in line with the May 10 understanding on cessation of hostilities with the Pakistani side.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is visiting Bhuj Air Force Station today to interact with personnel of the Indian Army, Indian Air Force, Border Security Force (BSF), and other security agencies.

The ceasefire between India and Pakistan has been extended till May 18. The Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both countries will hold the talks again soon after the extension deadline, reports have said.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar held his first-ever conversation with Afghanistan's acting Foreign Minister, Amir Khan Muttaqi, on Thursday. During the discussion, he emphasized India’s longstanding ties with the Afghan people and reaffirmed India’s ongoing support for Afghanistan’s development needs.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday extended an offer of talks to India He said that Pakistan is ready to engage "for peace".

Shehbaz's comments came during his visit to the Kamra air base in the country's Punjab province, where he interacted with officers and soldiers involved in the recent military confrontation with India.

"We are ready to talk with it (India) for peace," he said.

Sources have said that India and Pakistan have extended the ceasefire understanding and will be working towards reducing the alertness levels on borders.
