TMC MP Derek O'Brien said on X, "A responsible Opposition has done all it takes to get Parliament to function. We have been gracious and accommodating, even though we are up against a government who mock Parliament. Yes, a discussion on SIR was, and is, a top priority (people are dying). However, in the spirit of parliamentary democracy, we accepted the government’s proposal about timing and made a tactical change. We will corner the government in both debates. BRING IT ON."

To break the ongoing deadlock in the House, the Lok Sabha Speaker has summoned a meeting of party leaders in his chamber at Parliament House at 3 p.m. today, sources were cited as saying by ANI.

The Manipur Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2025, was introduced in the Rajya Sabha. The Bill, which seeks to amend the Manipur Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017, was passed by the Lok Sabha earlier today.

BJP MP Dilip Saikia chaired the session as the Lower House addressed matters raised by members under Rule 377. Opposition MPs continued to shout slogans, demanding a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). Saikia urged the Opposition MPs to remain seated, assuring them that a discussion on SIR would take place. Amid the protests, the Chair adjourned the Lower House till 11 am on Wednesday.

Both houses of Parliament resumed at 2 pm, and the Opposition continued to press for immediate discussion on SIR.

Over the Opposition's protest demanding discussion on SIR, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju says, " We have repeatedly urged to hold discussions in a peaceful and disciplined manner. We have always said that to raise one issue, you can't compromise on other issues. It is not right for some parties to disrupt the House. There is always victory and loss in elections, but taking out the anger over this defeat in Parliament is not right. We are ready to discuss any issue. I appeal to the opposition MPs not to disrupt the House proceedings."

Amid ongoing protests, the House has adjourned and will reconvene at 2 pm.

After visiting his deputy Shivakumar's residence for a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said they are "brothers from the same party and share the same ideology".

" Shivakumar came to my place for breakfast, and he invited me to come for breakfast or lunch at his house. So, he suggested coming on Tuesday. So I came today, and we had breakfast. We discussed party-related matters. More importantly, the Assembly session is starting next Monday. They said they will bring a no-confidence motion. BJP and JD(S) are planning to oppose whatever decisions we take. Our government is pro-farmer. We also discussed issues related to maize and sugarcane. I have spoken to the farmers, and the government has decided the price. I have also spoken to farmers, poultry farmers and fishery farmers..." the CM told the media after the meeting.

Members of Parliament (MPs) raised questions regarding cooperatives and fish production in Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. BJP MP Saumitra Khan questioned how much of the Central funds allocated for fish production had been spent by the Trinamool Congress (TMC) government. In response, the Centre stated that only 21% of the allocated funds had been utilized.

Opposition MPs continued their sloganeering, chanting phrases such as "Sir, pe charcha karo" and "Down Down." Speaker Om Birla urged them to settle down, but his requests were ignored. As a result, the Lok Sabha has been adjourned till 12 noon.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju says, “There is no need for the opposition to search for and manufacture issues. Several matters are already planned for discussion in the session, some of which have also been raised by the opposition. However, these issues cannot be used as a weapon in Parliament.”

On DoT's directions to pre-install Sanchar Saathi App on mobile handsets, Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra says, "It is a snooping app. It's ridiculous. Citizens have the right to privacy. Everyone must have the right to privacy to send messages to family, friends, without the government looking at everything... They are turning this country into a dictatorship in every form. The parliament is not functioning because the government is refusing to talk about anything. It's very easy to blame the Opposition. They are not allowing any discussion on anything... A healthy democracy demands discussion... There's a very fine line between reporting fraud and seeing what every citizen of India is doing on their phone. That's not how it should work. There should be an effective system to report fraud. We've discussed this at great length on cybersecurity. There's a need for cybersecurity, but that doesn't mean that it gives you an excuse to go into every citizen's telephone. I don't think any citizen would be happy..."

A bus hit an electricity pole and caught fire early Tuesday after colliding with a truck on the Balrampur-Gonda road here, leaving three passengers dead and over two dozens injured, police said. The incident took place at about 2 am when the bus was going to Delhi from Sonauli border. Some Nepalese nationals were among the passengers. The three deceased are yet to be identified. -- PTI
