The 15-year-old girl who was allegedly set on fire by three unidentified miscreants in Puri district succumbed to her burn injury while undergoing treatment in AIIMS Delhi, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said on Saturday.

The girl was set on fire by three unknown people on the morning of July 19 on the banks of river Bhargavi in Puri district. She had sustained 70 per cent burn injury.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has allowed a Pakistani woman, who was deported after the Pahalgam attack, to return to India on a visitor visa.

The 62-year-old Rakshanda Rashid had filed a petition in the Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh High Court, asking permission to return to her family in India. Read here

A mortar shell explosion in the northwestern region of Pakistan led to the death of five children and injured 12 others on Saturday.

The tragic incident occurred in Pakistan’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa region, when a mortar shell exploded around 9:30 am local time. The explosion was reported to be within close parameters of the Sadar Police station in the Lakki Marwat district of the northwestern province.

Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Saturday said nearly Rs 21,000 crore has once again been transferred directly into the bank accounts of 10 crore farmers across India under the 20th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi Yojana.

“Under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, this initiative continues to empower our farmers. Today’s disbursal will further strengthen the agricultural sector and bring us closer to the vision of making farming more profitable,” Shekhawat said.

Rajasthan Minister Jogaram Patel also expressed his gratitude, highlighting the impact on the state.

“On behalf of the people of Rajasthan, I thank Prime Minister Modi. Today, 82 lakh farmers in our state have received the 20th PM-KISAN installment,” he said.

Jharkhand's State Education Minister and Ghatshila MLA Ramdas Soren is in a critical condition after he collapsed in the washroom of his Ghodabanda residence early Saturday morning.

Soren suffered serious head injuries during the fall and was immediately rushed to the hospital. Doctors later confirmed that he had suffered a brain stroke.

Senior party leaders, including Jugsalai MLA Mangal Kalindi and Potka MLA Sanjeev Sardar, visited the hospital to check on his condition and are closely monitoring the situation.

The court rejected claims made by former Maharashtra ATS officer Mehboob Mujawar, who had alleged that he was asked to arrest Bhagwat during the investigation, but refused to carry out the order because he found no evidence against him.

The claim was recently brought up in court by the defence lawyer for Sudhakar Dwivedi, one of the acquitted accused. The court, however, ruled that there was “no force” in Mujawar’s allegation.

“This court does not find any merit in the contention that Mohan Bhagwat was targeted or that directions were given to arrest him,” Judge Lahoti stated.

In a major development, a special court in Mumbai acquitted all seven accused in the September 2008 Malegaon blast case. The judgment, running over 1,000 pages, was delivered by Special NIA Judge A K Lahoti.

But beyond the acquittals, the verdict also delivered a strong rebuttal to one of the more controversial claims surrounding the case, that there was a conspiracy to arrest RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat.
