Unemployment rate holds steady at 5.6% in June, highest stress among youth with 15.3% increase
India’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.6 percent in June, data released by the government showed. While the overall figure showed stability, the burden of joblessness continued to be disproportionately higher among the young.
The female unemployment rate declined marginally to 5.6 percent from 5.7 percent in May. Male unemployment, however, remained steady at 5.6 percent.
The highest stress was seen among the youth aged 15–29, where the unemployment rate rose to 15.3 percent in June from 15 percent in May. Read more

Kerala nurse death row: Nimisha Priya execution in Yemen postponed
Yemeni officials have postponed the execution of Indian nurse Nimisha Priya.
Sources quoted by news agency ANI said that the Indian government officials are in touch with the Yemini authorities.
“Despite the sensitivities involved, Indian officials have been in regular touch with the local jail authorities and the prosecutor’s office, leading to securing this postponement,” sources told news agency.
Earlier reports had said that the Yemeni man's family was offered Rs 8.5 crore. But the family has not accepted the ‘blood money.’ The Indian nurse was scheduled to be executed tomorrow i.e. July 16.

CPI leader shot dead during morning walk in Hyderabad
Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Chandu Rathod was shot dead on Tuesday while he was taking his usual morning walk at Shalivahana Nagar Park in Malakpet, Hyderabad.
Around 7:30 am, three to four unidentified attackers arrived in a white Swift car and threw chili powder into Rathod’s eyes before opening fire at him. Despite 20 people being nearby at the park, the assailants managed to run and escape.
According to Hindustan Times, Rathod’s wife stated that he had a long-standing feud with a man named Rajesh, who is a member of CPI (ML) from Devaruppala.

Three children drown in water-filled pit in MP's Chhatarpur
Three minor siblings have drowned in a water-filled pit at a village in Madhya Pradesh's Chhatarpur district, police said on Tuesday. The incident took place on Monday evening in Hatwa village under Prakash Bamhori police station area, 70 km from the district headquarters.
The three children ventured into the water-filled pit while playing. They got trapped in it and drowned, Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Naveen Dubey said. The bodies were later fished out and sent to the district hospital for post-mortem. -- PTI

CPI leader shot dead by unidentified persons in Hyderabad
A CPI leader in Telangana was shot dead by unidentified persons at Malakpet here on Tuesday morning, police said.
The assailants came in a car, opened fire on K Chandu Naik (47), state council member of Communist Party of India (CPI), while he was on a morning walk near a park. After they shot multiple rounds, the communist leader died, a senior police official told PTI.
The accused then fled the scene. A police team rushed to the spot and initiated the investigation.
