In a significant step towards enhancing connectivity between India and the Philippines, direct flights from Delhi to Manila are expected to commence operations from October 1 this year, the Ministry of External Affairs stated on Tuesday.

During a special press briefing on the occasion of the state visit of the President of the Philippines, Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr, to India, the MEA indicated that the two countries are exploring possibilities of expanding air links to additional destinations shortly to provide a strong impetus to tourism, business, and people-to-people contacts between the two countries.

A cloudburst triggered a massive flash flood in Uttarkashi's Dharali village, wiping out houses and cattle on Tuesday. Rescue operations are underway.

Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said the news of heavy damage caused by a cloudburst in the Dharali (Uttarkashi) region is extremely sad and distressing.

"SDRF, NDRF, district administration, and other related teams are engaged in relief and rescue operations on a war footing. In this regard, I am in constant contact with senior officials, and the situation is being closely monitored. I pray to God for everyone's safety," he wrote on X.

Delhi Police on Monday stated that they have arrested five “illegal immigrants" from Bangladesh and launched a probe. “All of them are illegal immigrants. They tried to forcibly enter the Red Fort premises," the police said, according to a report by news agency ANI.

The age of all of the arrested individuals is around 20-25 years old, and they worked as labourers in the national capital. According to officials, some Bangladeshi documents have been recovered from the arrested individuals and they are currently being questioned.
