Prime Minister Narendra Modi marked Diwali with Indian Navy personnel aboard INS Vikrant off the Goa coast, witnessing MiG-29K air demonstrations and a cultural program honoring Operation Sindoor.

PM Modi also shared his Diwali greetings, saying he usually celebrates the festival with his family but has chosen to spend it with the people he considers part of his extended family.

“Everyone looks forward to celebrating Diwali with their loved ones. I, too, am used to celebrating with my family, which is why this year I am here with all of you, who I regard as my family. At the same time, I am also cherishing moments with my own family. This Diwali feels especially meaningful to me,” he said.

One person was killed and three others sustained injuries after a fire broke out in the Cuffe Parade area of south Mumbai early Monday, officials said.

According to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the blaze erupted in the early hours and was brought under control around 4:30 am after a firefighting operation.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath today extended Diwali greetings to the residents of Ayodhya, urging them to celebrate the festival with enthusiasm, cleanliness, and caution.

The Chief Minister, who offered prayers at Hanuman Garhi and the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple earlier in the day, also advised residents to celebrate responsibly.

“You will burst firecrackers this evening, but do it with caution and vigilance. You have to take care of yourself and also ensure that no one gets hurt,” he said.

The Air Quality Index (AQI) around India Gate touched 347 this morning, placing it in the ‘severe’ category, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB).
