President Droupadi Murmu on Friday addressed the joint meeting of the Parliament, ahead of the presentation of the Union Budget on Saturday, and said their aim is to "make India a global innovation powerhouse".
While addressing the Parliament, President Murmu said, "Our aim is to make India a global innovation powerhouse. In the area of artificial intelligence, India AI Mission has been started."

Lauding key developments, the President said, "The government has launched this mission to enhance India's role in Artificial Intelligence. Our country is emerging as a major global player in digital technology.
Earlier, speaking at a press conference on the India AI Mission, Union Minister of Electronics and IT Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that the country’s large language model (LLM) will be ready within 10 months.
Highlighting India’s AI capabilities, Vaishnaw compared the nation’s infrastructure to global benchmarks: “DeepSeek AI was trained on 2,000 GPUs, ChatGPT was trained on 25,000 GPUs, and we now have 15,000 high-end GPUs available. India now has a robust compute facility that will support our AI ambitions.”

During her address, President Murmu also highlighted the significant achievements of women in India, expressing pride in their increasing presence in various fields. She noted that women are now flying fighter aircraft, joining the police force, leading corporate enterprises, and bringing glory to the nation by winning Olympic medals.
She further stated that her government is committed to fulfilling the middle class's dream of homeownership. She also described the Waqf Bill as a progressive step taken by her administration.
