On the eve of India’s 79th Independence Day, President Droupadi Murmu addressed the nation, reflecting on the remarkable strides made in the past decade, outlining the roadmap for future growth, and reaffirming the resolve behind Operation Sindoor.

She celebrated India’s steady progress toward self-reliance, rooted in the constitutional values of justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity — with human dignity at the heart. From expanding access to healthcare and education to creating opportunities for all, she highlighted the country’s commitment to inclusive growth since its independence in 1947, when it emerged from colonial rule and deep poverty.

Marking Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, she paid tribute to those who endured the violence and displacement of 1947, urging the nation to draw lessons from that tragedy. She hailed India’s vibrant democracy, where every citizen shapes the nation’s future through the right to vote, guided by the Constitution.

Highlighting technological and infrastructural gains, she spoke of near-universal 4G connectivity in villages and landmark projects such as the Kashmir Valley rail link, poised to boost trade and tourism. She credited good governance for lifting millions out of poverty, advancing digital payments, and sustaining India’s position as the fastest-growing major economy.
