Independence Day 2024 PM Modi Flag Hosting Latest News: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing the nation on the occasion of 78th Independence Day, announced the creation of 75,000 medical seats across India.
These seats will be created in the period of next five years PM Modi said. In his 11th consecutive Independence Day speech, PM Modi highlighted the fact that several children are going abroad to study medicine. Most of these students, who belong to the middle class, spend several lakh and crores to get a foreign medical degree, PM Modi added.
"In the last 10 years we have increased the medical seats to nearly 1 lakh," Modi said.
Giving the data on annual trend, PM Modi said that about 25,000 students go abroad for medical studies. Without naming any country, PM Modi said, “they go to such countries, I get surprised when I hear about them.”
Apart from creating medical seats in India, PM Modi also said the Centre wants more foreign students to come to India and study.
"We want to build such an education system in India that youngsters do not need to go abroad to study. In fact we would want foreign students to come here and study," he said.
