In cryptic posts, Indian armed forces project operational readiness as border tensions flare up

The coordinated show of solidarity from the Indian armed forces comes at a time when diplomatic and military pressure is mounting between India and Pakistan.

Amid escalating tensions with Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday, the Indian armed forces, on Saturday, projected a cryptic message of strength and readiness.

The Indian Army, reaffirming its vigilance, wrote on microblogging site X, "Always Prepared, Ever Vigilant - #IndianArmy."

Meanwhile, the Indian Navy posted on X, "Power in unity; Presence with Purpose," highlighting the spirit of collective defense and operational resolve.

Tensions have sharply intensified following Tuesday's horrific terrorist attack in Baisaran Valley, near Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, which left 26 people dead, most of them tourists.

India has blamed Pakistan-backed groups for the attack, further intensifying the already volatile situation between the two neighbours. New Delhi has vowed to bring those responsible to justice, with Prime Minister Narendra Modi promising that the perpetrators would be pursued "to the ends of the earth."

The situation further escalated when Pakistan violated the ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) on the nights of April 25 and 26, prompting the Indian Army to retaliate with small arms fire. This marks the second consecutive day of cross-border firing, raising the stakes in an already volatile region.

The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front - a proxy group linked to Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba - has prompted swift retaliatory measures from India, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the closure of the Integrated Check Post at the Wagah-Attari border, and the cancellation of visas for Pakistani nationals.
