The IAF Jaguar fighter jet that crashed in Churu on Wednesday had lost balance mid-air and then crashed into a field, an eyewitness told News18. The eyewitness also said that they saw a body at the crash site.
While speaking about the crash incident, Churu Superintendent of Police said, “It was a trainer aircraft. One person has died in the crash."
Meanwhile, Om Prakash, IG Bikaner Range, said, "Unfortunately, the crash took place earlier this morning. Police teams have reached the site and cordoned off the area. I am also on my way to the location. The area is being sanitised, and we are ensuring the safety of the debris to prevent any tampering."
IAF fighter jet crash in Churu
Indian Air Force (IAF) took to X to announce that both pilots have been killed in the crash. "An IAF Jaguar Trainer aircraft met with an accident during a routine training mission and crashed near Churu in Rajasthan, today. Both pilots sustained fatal injuries in the accident. No damage to any civil property has been reported...A court of inquiry has been constituted, to ascertain the cause of the accident," IAF said in its X post.
The incident occurred at around 1:25 pm in the Ratangarh region of Rajasthan's Churu. A team from the Rajaldesar Police Station reached the crash site shortly after and has launched a preliminary probe, News18 reported.
The cause of the crash and the identity of the deceased have not been officially disclosed. The aircraft had taken off from the Suratgarh air base with two pilots onboard.
SHO Rajaldesar Kamlesh said that human body parts were recovered from the wreckage site, indicating likely casualties in the crash.
