YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, who was arrested on espionage charges on May 16, following her suspected links to Pakistan, maintained a diary that has now revealed certain things about her trip to Pakistan before the deadly Pahalgam attack that shook the entire nation on April 22.
According to a report in NDTV, her diary described Pakistan as "crazy" and "colourful". "During this time, I received a lot of love from the people of Pakistan. Our subscribers and friends also came to meet us. The two days we got to visit Lahore were not enough," her diary read.
This was part of her "return to my country, India" entry in her diary, NDTV further reported. Jyoti further made a request to the Pakistani authorities, according to media reports. "Protect the temples there and let Indians meet their families from whom they were separated in 1947," her request to the Pakistani authorities reportedly said.
Jyoti Malhotra arrest
Amid tensions between India and Pakistan, YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra was booked under Sections 3 and 5 of the Official Secrets Act, 1923, and Section 152 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Investigation agencies have also found out that Malhotra had links with a Pakistani staffer from the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi, Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, from November 2023 to March 2025.
Danish had introduced Jyoti to Ali Ahwan, who then arranged for her accommodation and meetings with Pakistani security officials Shakir and Rana Shahbaz.
AN FIR against Malhotra said that she was a part of a larger network that is spread across Haryana and Punjab and includes informants, financial handlers and the likes.
Jyoti Malhotra apparently has multiple accounts to her name and the transactions from each is now being investigated by agencies, to further ascertain her involvement with Pakistan and other people who worked on similar lines.
