As polling commenced for the Delhi Assembly Elections on Wednesday, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal issued a heartfelt appeal to voters, underscoring the transformative power of their votes in shaping the future of the national capital.

Taking to microblogging site X, Kejriwal stated, "Your vote is not just a button, it is the foundation of your children's bright future. It is an opportunity to provide good schools, excellent hospitals, and a respectable life to every family."

With an electorate of approximately 1.56 crore, this election is pivotal in defining Delhi's governance trajectory. Kejriwal urged voters to prioritise "truth, development, and honesty" over "the politics of lies, hatred, and fear." He further called on citizens to inspire their families, friends, and neighbors to participate actively in the democratic process, concluding with, "Hooliganism will lose, Delhi will win."

Joining the appeal, Delhi Chief Minister Atishi described the election as a "battle between good and evil," urging voters to choose progress over "hooliganism."

On the opposing front, Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva called for support for the BJP’s vision of a "clean, well-governed, and prosperous" Delhi under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. Sachdeva emphasized the importance of the "double-engine government" to accelerate Delhi’s development.

Meanwhile, Congress candidate Sandeep Dikshit, contesting against Kejriwal in the New Delhi constituency, urged voters to turn out in large numbers to protect their democratic rights.

Polling is currently underway at 13,766 stations across Delhi's 70 assembly constituencies, deciding the fate of 699 candidates. Voting will continue until 6 pm, with results scheduled for announcement on February 8.
