A home guard surrendered before the Bengaluru Police confessing that he had murdered his wife, daughter, and niece following a heated argument at their home in Nethaji Nagar.
Gangaraju, 42, stationed at Hebbagodi police station, turned himself in to the Peenya police about an hour after the killings on January 8, still holding the machete that is believed to be the weapon used in the crime, reported The Hindu.
The police identified the victims as Gangaraju’s 36-year-old wife Bhagyamma, his 19-year-old daughter Navya, and Navya’s 23-year-old cousin Hemavathi. They were living together in a rented house in Nethaji Nagar for the past six years.
The police noted that Gangaraju had a squabble with his wife and struck her head with the machete in a fit of rage. He also attacked Navya and Hemavathi, who came down from her home in Nelamangala to wear the Om Shakthi mala, on their heads.
A police officer revealed that the home guard went to the police station around 5pm, roughly an hour after the incident. He alleged that his wife was having an affair and that both his wife and daughter were ignoring him, said the official.
The police also mentioned that a complaint had been lodged at the Peenya police station three days earlier about frequent arguments at their home over trivial matters.
The bodies have been transferred to Victoria Hospital and are scheduled for post-mortem on January 9.
