The death toll from flash floods caused by cloudbursts in three districts of Himachal Pradesh has risen to 11, with two more bodies recovered from Mandi district. The victims, identified as Sonam (23) and three-month-old Manvi, were found in Rajbhan village, Padhar area of Mandi district.
Over 40 people remain missing following a series of cloudbursts on the night of July 31, which struck Kullu's Nirmand, Sainj, and Malana; Mandi's Padhar; and Shimla's Rampur subdivision. Rescue operations are ongoing, utilizing sniffer dogs, drones, and other equipment to locate the missing individuals.
Approximately 410 rescuers from various teams, including the Army, NDRF, SDRF, ITBP, CISF, Himachal Pradesh Police, and home guards, are involved in the search efforts. In Samej village within the Gram Panchayat Sarpara in Rampur subdivision, over 30 people are still unaccounted for.
The state government has announced immediate relief of Rs 50,000 for the victims and will provide Rs 5,000 per month for rent over the next three months, along with gas, food, and other essential items.
