Highest and lowest victory margins in Delhi: From 42,724 to 344 votes

As the counting for the Delhi election enters its final phase, the BJP has won 45 seats and is leading in 3 constituencies. Meanwhile, the AAP has won 21 seats and is ahead in 1.

A party needs 36 seats to form a majority in the 70-member Delhi Assembly. If the current trend continues, the BJP will govern both the state and the Centre simultaneously for the first time in years.

As per the Election Commission data till 6.20 pm, here are seats where candidates won and lost by big margins respectively.

Biggest winners

Matia Mahal: AAP candidate Aaley Mohammed Iqbal won by a margin of 42,724 votes. He was pitted against BJP’s Deepti Indora and Congress leader Asim Ahmed Khan.

Seelampur: AAP candidate Chaudhary Zubair Ahmad beat Anil Kumar Sharma (Gaur) by a margin of 42,477 votes.

Rohini: BJP’s Vijender Gupta defeated AAP’s Pardeep Mittal by a margin of 37.816 votes. Also, in the fray was Sumesh Gupta from the Congress.

Deoli: AAP leader Prem Chauhan defeated BJP ally Lok Janshakti Party’s (Ram Vilas) Deepak Tanwar by a margin of 3,6680 votes.

Bawana: BJP’s Ravinder Indraj Singh beat the AAP candidate Jai Bhagwan Upkar by 3,1475 votes. Congress candidate Surender Kumar trailed behind with a margin of 100802 votes.

Biggest losers

Sangam Vihar: AAP’s Dinesh Mohaniya lost by 344 votes. He was defeated by BJP candidate Chandan Kumar Choudhary who got 5,4049 votes.

Trilokpuri: AAP’s woman candidate Anjana Parcha lost by a margin of 392 votes. She was up against BJP leader Rabi Kant who bagged 58,217 votes.

Jangpura: AAP veteran Manish Sisodia lost by a margin of 675 votes. He was pitted against BJP leader Tarvinder Singh Marwah. Farhad Suri from Congress was also in the fray.

Timarpur: AAP leader Surinder Pal Singh (Bittoo) was defeated by BJP candidate Surya Prakash Khatri with a margin of 1,168 votes.

Rajinder Nagar: AAP candidate Durgesh Pathak lost by 1,231 votes. He was up against BJP’s Umang Bajaj who got 4,6671 votes.
