Hical Technologies on January 21 announced the launch of Corporate Commute, a corporate mobility solution developed with mobility-as-a-service platform Tummoc to encourage employees to shift to public transport through incentives and seamless digital onboarding.

The solution is being rolled out under STAMP: Nudging Commuter Behaviour, led by WRI India and the Toyota Mobility Foundation with support from ELCIA/ELCITA, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) and BMTC, to boost metro and bus usage among corporate commuters in Bengaluru.

Under the programme, employees create a business-linked profile on Tummoc, enabling employers to load commuting incentives directly into digital wallets and track usage, leaderboard performance and estimated carbon emissions saved. The app enables end-to-end trip planning and payments across metro, buses and last-mile options such as autos, bikes and cabs.

BL Yashavanth Chavan, chief public relations officer of BMRCL, said Namma Metro recorded daily boardings of 10.82 lakh on August 14, 2025, following the launch of the Yellow Line. With the Pink Line expected in 2026 and the Blue Line progressing, BMRCL aims to make the Metro the preferred mode of travel for IT commuters through digital integration such as QR tickets, apps, chatbots, multi-mode payments and open standards like GTFS and ONDC.

Soumya Venkatesh, sustainability head at Hical Technologies, said corporate commute is designed to make sustainable commuting the default choice for employees. She said employees can plan routes, buy metro tickets or bus passes and track incentives on a single platform, while rewards and leaderboards support the company’s ESG goals and build a public transport culture.

Pras Ganesh, executive programme director at Toyota Mobility Foundation, said the pilot shows how digital innovation combined with incentives can make public transport an easy and scalable choice for corporate commuters. Srinivas Alavilli, Fellow at WRI India, said Hical’s experience could encourage wider adoption by other companies in Bengaluru and beyond. The partners will track employee uptake and commuting behaviour during the pilot and assess scaling the solution across ELCIA member companies and additional Yellow Line metro stations.
