Like previous years, the BJP plans to organise ‘Seva Pakhwada’ to celebrate Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday on September 17.
However, there is a difference as PM Modi will turn 75 this year. BJP insiders told Indian Express that this time the focus would be more on the Prime Minister.
“Seminars with intellectuals will be organised where BJP leaders will speak about the life, political career and achievements of the PM, including those during his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister and also about the time he spent in the party’s organisation,” the BJP insiders told IE.
The BJP holds cleanliness drives across India every year on September 17. Also, photo exhibitions on PM Modi’s life and achievements are organised across BJP offices.
“This year, the party will identify sites and assign them to teams, who will clean it daily for the entire duration of the Seva Pakhwada. This way, the site will remain clean, and a good message will be sent out among the people,” another party leader told IE.
Also, the BJP would hold photo exhibitions at public places.
A panel of BJP leaders is reportedly shortlisting books written on the PM and will hand over the chosen ones to party workers and people. “Apart from this, a documentary on Modi’s life is also being made. It will be screened at various events during the Seva Pakhwada,” a source said.
Similar seminars will also be organised on September 25, the birth anniversary of Bharatiya Jana Sangh co-founder Deendayal Upadhyaya.
A senior BJP leader, who attended a workshop on the Seva Pakhwada in Delhi last week, told IE that NaMo parks and NaMo Vans (forests) would be developed by municipal bodies in urban areas, with spaces dedicated for plantations by visitors.
According to the leader, the existing ones will also be upgraded to NaMo parks. “Likewise, areas within existing forests will be earmarked as Namo Vans while new forest areas will be planned across 50 acres through large-scale plantations. The concerned ministries will chalk a roadmap for this,” said the leader.
Earlier, the BJP had proposed to name the parks and forests as Modi parks and Modi Vans respectively. However, it was dropped over possible criticism from the Opposition.
The party has also constituted a team of leaders, such as national general secretaries Sunil Bansal and Radha Mohan Das Agrawal, national vice-president D K Aruna, secretaries Arvind Menon and Alka Gujar, and joint treasurer Naresh Bansal to oversee the preparations in their assigned states.
According to the IE report, seven-day health camps as well as blood donation camps at primary and community health centres across the country will be held.
The BJP’s youth wing – the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha – will hold 3-km and 5-km marathons at over 1,000 places across the country. A drawing competition on 11 years of the Modi regime will also be held, according to an IE report.
