Addressing party workers at the BJP headquarters here, Modi said the conduct of peaceful elections in Jammu and Kashmir was the victory of India’s Constitution and democracy.

Modi said whenever the BJP forms a government in any state, people support it for a long time and put "no entry" boards for the Congress.

As of 6.47 pm, BJP has got 47 seats and is leading on 1 seat. Congress has won 36 seats and is leading on 1 seat. INLD has won 2 seats, while 3 seats have been won by independent candidates.

More bad news for Congress. Haryana Congress chief Uday Bhan has lost from Hodal, according to the EC data. BJP's Harinder Singh won the seat by a margin of 2,595 votes.

Congress MP Jairam Ramesh says, "The chapter on Haryana is not complete, it will continue. The chapter in Jammu and Kashmir, of course, there will be a coalition government. And as I said till yesterday, various attempts were being made to ensure that the majority will not come to the Congress-NC coalition but the people of Jammu and Kashmir have given a very clear mandate for this coalition government."

Addressing a post-poll presser, the Congress said that the verdict of the Haryana Assembly Elections are 'simply unacceptable.' Congress leader Pawan Khera and Jairam Ramesh said that victory was snatched from them. They said that there are serious complaints against the functioning of the electronic voting machines.

Congress MP Kumari Selja expressed her disappointment, stating, "The results are extremely disheartening. Our workers put in so much effort over a long period, taking Rahul Gandhi’s message to the villages, but looking at the outcome, it seems like all their hard work has gone in vain. Congress has leveled fresh charges against the Election Commission of India. Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi Party has failed to make a mark in the Haryana Assembly elections so far. As per EC trends available at 12.30 PM, the AAP is not leading in any of the 89 Assembly seats it contested in this election. The vote share of the AAP currently stands at 1.66%. The party, a key constituent of the INDIA bloc at the national level, was keen on an alliance with the Congress, but withdrew over the number and choice of seats being offered. The performance also dims the party's hopes of riding on its win in neighbouring Punjab to fuel its heartland expansion.

BJP candidate from Ambala Cantt, Anil Vij, joined party workers at the Ambala office to monitor the counting trends. According to the latest EC data, the party is leading in 49 out of 90 seats, but Anil Vij is currently trailing in his constituency. Chitra Sarwara, an Independent candidate, is leading from the seat by a margin of 545 votes.

The Congress party, which is ahead in 35 seats against BJP's leads in 49 seats, is leading against the saffron party in terms of vote share. The trends, if they hold and convert into results, would mean that the issues such as 'Jat anger', and resentment against the government over the Agnipath scheme, the farmers' agitation and the wrestlers' protest failed to have any impact on voters. The vote share of the BJP, which currently hovers around 39% is higher than the 36.49% votes it polled in 2019.

According to a report by NDTV, the counting of votes has stopped in Panipat after the Congress agents alleged some issue with the EVMs.

In response to Congress trailing according to the latest Election Commission data and discussions about the AAP-Congress alliance not materializing, AAP Haryana president Sushil Gupta stated, "It's not my role to assess this. The high command of both parties will evaluate the gains or losses and determine what should have been done differently. We made a positive effort at that time... We formed an alliance at the national level and brought the BJP to its knees. If we had done the same here, the results would have been significantly different."

According to the Election Commission of India's official data, BJP's Yogesh Kumar is leading from Julana against Congress' Vinesh Phogat. The lead margin is 2,128 votes so far.

As of 9:48 AM, the BJP is leading in 45 seats, while Congress has secured 38 seats.

As counting for the Haryana Elections and Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Election begins, Congress workers are distributing laddoos at the AICC Headquarters in Delhi.

Kurukshetra: Ahead of the vote counting for the Haryana Elections, Haryana Chief Minister and BJP candidate from Ladwa, Nayab Singh Saini, participated in singing bhajans at the Shri Dakshin Mukhi Hanuman Temple located by Brahma Sarovar.

Sirsa district recorded the highest voter turnout, with over 80 percent, as per the updated figures from the Election Commission on Sunday. Polling for the 90-member state assembly took place on Saturday.

Aditya Surjewala, son of Congress leader Randeep Surjewala is leading from Kaithal in early trends. The Congress is also leading from all seats of Sonipat.

More trends are coming in. In postal ballots, Anil Vij is leading from Ambala. If we look at the first trends, the Congress has reached the majority mark whereas the BJP is at 19 seats. No luck for AAP and JJP in postal ballots.

Early trends are in for around 58 seats. Key candidates such as Savitri Jindal, Bhupinder Hooda and Nayab Singh Saini are leading from their respective seats. Add to these is another name - Vinesh Phogat, who is leading from Julana in postal ballots.

A victory, though welcome, could put the Congress in a difficult position. The party’s state unit, already plagued by factional infighting, will face a new challenge as the high command deliberates on the crucial question of chief ministership. While Bhupinder Singh Hooda is the leading contender and a natural choice, given his tenure as CM from 2005 to 2014, the party’s decade-long absence from power has allowed other strong contenders to emerge. • Lower turnout in urban constituencies contributed to a dip in voter participation in the Haryana Assembly elections, which recorded a turnout of 67.9%, according to the Election Commission on Monday.
• Polling for all 90 constituencies took place on October 5. This year’s turnout was slightly lower than the 68.3% recorded in the 2019 Assembly elections. The male voter turnout stood at 68.93%, higher than the 66.73% turnout among women, as reported by the EC.

Ahead of the Lok Sabha election results, the Nifty index has shown volatility amid two quarterly corporate earnings reports this year. While it has gained only 142 points since the start of the year, it hit an all-time high of 23,338.7 on June 3. On June 4, the benchmark BSE Sensex surged 3.4% to close at a new record high after exit polls projected a strong BJP win in the general elections. However, the same day, equity markets saw a dramatic sell-off, with both Nifty and Sensex plummeting nearly 6%, and the Midcap and Smallcap indices dropping up to 8%, marking the steepest single-day decline in four years.

Market expert Shankar Sharma shared his perspective on the potential impact of the elections on India’s financial landscape. In a tweet, he remarked, “In a stock market sense, BJP is looking like the Indian stock market, and Congress, like the Chinese stock market," highlighting a contrast between the two major parties and the financial markets of India and China.

The results in both Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir are more than just political events; they are anticipated to influence financial markets as well. Motilal Oswal Financial Services Ltd (MOFSL), in its latest strategy note, indicated that "the outcomes of the recent state elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir, while not a needle mover, may keep the markets on edge, as exit polls predicted losses for the BJP in both Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir."

In Haryana, the Congress is expected to secure a full majority with 50-58 seats in the 90-member assembly, a significant increase from its 31 seats in the 2019 elections. Meanwhile, the ruling BJP, aiming for a third consecutive victory in the state, is projected to win 20-28 seats, a decline from its 2019 tally of 40 seats, according to the CVoter exit poll.

The Congress is optimistic about regaining power in Haryana, following a dynamic campaign focused on key issues like the farmers' protest, wrestlers' protest, unemployment, and the Agniveer scheme. The party's decision to field Olympian wrestler Vinesh Phogat from Julana has further energized its campaign in the Jat-dominated region.

In Haryana, polling was conducted in a single phase on October 5, recording a voter turnout of 67.9%. The BJP is facing anti-incumbency after being in power since 2014. To counter this, the party attempted a leadership change midway through its second term, replacing Manohar Lal Khattar with Nayab Singh Saini as Chief Minister.
