The government on Saturday denied claims that Pakistan has destroyed an S-400 air defence system during an attack on India.

"S-400 Destroyed by Pakistan? Here's the Truth! Posts circulating on social media claim that Pakistan has destroyed an Indian S-400 air defence system," the PIB Fact Check handle posted on X.

It added that any reports of destruction or any damage to an S-400 system are baseless.

Pakistani media as well as multiple handles on social media claimed that a hypersonic missile fired by their JF-17 jet has destroyed an S-400 system in Adampur.

India's S-400 Triumf is a long-range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system developed by Russia's Almaz Central Design Bureau.

It is widely regarded as one of the most advanced air defence systems in the world, capable of tracking, targeting and destroying a variety of aerial threats.

India has effectively used the S-400 air defence system to thwart Pakistani missiles and drones targeting Indian cities over the last 3 days.
