The lone survivor of the ill-fated Air India flight, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, revealed how he miraculously escaped the inferno that followed the disaster. "The plane broke, and my seat came off," he told doctors treating him at Ahmedabad Civil Hospital. "That is how I was saved."
Ramesh was seated next on seat 11 A, which was next to the emergency door on the left side of the aircraft. He said shortly after the take-off, the plane broke apart and his seat was flung clear of the wreckage. As a result, he was saved from the flames that engulfed the rest of the aircraft.
The Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad had one miracle survivor, while 241 others on board were killed, reported ANI quoting Ahmedabad Police Commissioner GS Malik. Earlier Malik had said that possibility of any of the passengers surviving was unlikely.
"I can't believe it myself how i got out of it alive," he said in a interview to DD news.
Ramesh is undergoing treatment in a civil hospital in Gujarat. "There were bodies all around me, there were pieces of the plane all around me. Someone grabbed hold of me and put me in an ambulance," Ramesh said.
