Policymakers, scientists, farm leaders and business executives from India, the United States, Mexico, Africa and Asia will gather in New Delhi on September 8-9 to discuss strategies for meeting the food and nutrition needs of a projected global population of 9.7 billion by 2050.
The two-day conference, DialogueNEXT, will be held at the ICAR Convention Centre in the NASC Complex. The event will focus on how agricultural innovations can reach farmers, particularly in developing countries, to boost productivity and ensure sustainable food systems.
Speakers include Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds, Iowa Agriculture Secretary Mike Naig, World Food Prize Foundation president Mashal Husain, India’s Principal Scientific Advisor Ajay Kumar Sood, NITI Aayog member Ramesh Chand, ICAR Director General Mangi Lal Jat, and FAO chief economist Máximo Torero Cullen. Several heads of international agricultural research institutes such as CIMMYT, ICRISAT and the International Potato Center will also participate.
Panel discussions will cover issues ranging from South-South cooperation in agriculture and farmer-centric innovations to food systems, value chains and nutrition.
The Delhi event is part of a three-country series that will culminate in the annual Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue in Des Moines, Iowa, in October.
