Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta presented Budget 2025-26 in the state Assembly on Tuesday with a focus on the education sector.
“Today is a historic day. This is not any normal budget. All the people of Delhi and the entire country are listening to this budget session. This budget is not just any finance and expenditure related one. It will present a vision for the development of Delhi. This budget is for Viksit Dilli,” Gupta told the Assembly.
Unveiling the Rs 1 lakh crore Budget for 2025-26, CM Gupta said it was the largest budget in the capital’s history.
Here are the allocations for education sector
•Rs 100 crore for establishing new “CM Shri schools’ in Delhi.
•Rs 750 crore for distributing free laptops to 1,200 students who pass Class X
•Rs 100 crore for building 175 new computer labs and smart classes.
•1,200 children will be given laptops under the free laptop scheme
•Talent hunt scheme will be started in Delhi for which Rs 5 crore will be allocated
•Budget of Maithili and Bhojpuri Academy has been increased to Rs 6 crore
•Rs 139 crore for promoting art and culture
•Rs 618 crore for an education hub in Narela
•Sports university will be opened in Delhi
• Language labs will be opened in 100 government schools of Delhi
"... There is a lot of difference between us and them (AAP)... You (AAP) made promises, we will fulfil them. You abused the governments of the other states, we will establish harmony and work together... You made 'Sheesh Mahal', we will build houses for the poor... You installed pot toilets worth lakhs, we will make toilets for the people in slum areas..." said Gupta.
