During the visit, Vance is scheduled to hold high-level talks with PM Modi.

United States Vice President JD Vance will embark on a four-day official visit to India beginning April 21, marking his first trip to the country since taking office.

Accompanied by his wife, Usha Vance, and their children, the visit carries strategic significance amid evolving global geopolitics and intensifying US-China trade tensions.

During the visit, Vance is scheduled to hold high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The discussions are expected to cover key areas such as trade realignments, Indo-Pacific cooperation, global supply chain resilience, and the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict. With India emerging as a crucial balancing power, the US is keen to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties.

The first leg of the Vice President’s visit will be in Jaipur, Rajasthan, where he will stay from April 21 to 23. He is expected to land at Jaipur International Airport at 9:30 PM on April 21, where he will be received by Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra and Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma.

He will then proceed to Hotel Rambagh Palace, where a special reception has been organised in his honour.

On April 22, JD Vance will begin his day at 9:00 am with a visit to Amer Fort, where he will be welcomed at Suraj Pol Gate by two decorated elephants, ‘Chanda’ and ‘Pushpa’. His itinerary also includes visits to the City Palace, Jantar Mantar, and Hawa Mahal—some of Jaipur’s most iconic landmarks.

In the afternoon, the Vice President will attend a special program at the Rajasthan International Centre, followed by meetings in the evening with Governor Mishra and CM Sharma.

On April 23, the US delegation will leave for Agra to visit the Taj Mahal, before continuing with the official leg of the trip in New Delhi.

Security arrangements are being jointly handled by Indian and US agencies, with heightened measures in place throughout the Vice President’s stay. Authorities have announced that Amer Fort will remain closed to tourists from 5 pm on April 22 until 12 noon on April 23 as a precautionary measure.

The visit comes at a time when India’s role as a global manufacturing hub and geopolitical stabilizer is gaining prominence, and JD Vance’s engagements here are expected to further deepen the Indo-US partnership.
