Tensions flared up in Uttar Pradesh's Fatehpur over a dispute surrounding a tomb after members of Hindu organisations reportedly climbed onto it and began vandalising it, according to News18.

According to reports,  members of the Muslim community responded with stone-pelting. Police officials reached the spot and are trying to control the situation.

A row sparked after the Hindu organisation claimed that the tomb is actually a temple of Thakur Ji. Members of the Hindu group moved forward to perform prayers and rituals, according to News18.

"We will offer prayers here at noon. The administration will not be able to stop us. In the Hindu religion, no one can take away our right to offer prayers. It is our temple which they are referring to as a tomb..." Fatehpur District Co-convenor of Bajrang Dal, Dharmendra Singh, told ANI.
