Menon clarified that the original footage was created solely for promotional purposes and carried no political message.

Actor Kay Kay Menon, on Monday, reacting to the Congress' Vote Chori’ campaign on social media, denied any involvement in the party's initiative, after a viral video associating him with the drive was created by editing old footage without his consent.

The controversy began after the Congress shared a video on its official Instagram account, which shows Menon’s iconic character Himmat Singh, an intelligence officer from the web series Special Ops, appearing to urge people to join the campaign against alleged electoral fraud.

The post, accompanied by a caption in Hindi, says, “Himmat Singh kuch keh rahe hain, jaldi se kar aao! Band karo” (“Himmat Singh is saying something, go quickly! Stop it”).

The Congress, meanwhile, continues to step up its campaign, reiterating allegations of voter manipulation and amplifying Rahul Gandhi’s repeated claims of large-scale poll rigging.

The party has, in fact, launched a dedicated website -- votechori.in/ecdemand -- where citizens can register to demand greater transparency from the Election Commission of India (ECI) and support calls for publicly auditable digital voter rolls.

Gandhi, taking to microblogging site X, has described “vote theft” as an attack on the democratic principle of “one person, one vote” and urged people to participate in what he called “a fight to protect democracy.”

The portal also provides resources, downloadable material on alleged voter fraud, and tools for reporting suspected irregularities.
