Union telecom minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said people of India are happy with the Congress.
During an interview with CNN-News18, the minister criticised the Congress claiming internal discontent and questioned its leadership decisions.
“I was really shocked that the Congress president says that the decision of leadership change will be taken by high command. Who is the high command, who is higher than Congress president? People of India want an answer to that,” he said while referring to Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s recent remark on the alleged power tussle in Karnataka.
The power struggle in Karnataka between Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and state Congress president and Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar recently escalated in a manner that that party brass had to step in.
Kharge on Monday said the party high command will decide on matters such as changing chief minister.
“I don’t think anyone is happy in Congress. I don’t think people of India are happy with Congress. I think only certain leaders of Congress are happy with themselves. That is the conundrum that Cong faces today. I rest my case,” he said.
Scindia also alleged that the Congress is only committed to a single thought that how it will enable itself to grab power. "If that is its goal, the means it seems is criticism. even if it is criticising the country. Which patriot will go outside this country and bring the country down? When a government that has taken retribution against terrorism and taken such strong action," the minister told CNN-News18.
He also said that "when truth comes out, it hurts".
"When I was in Congress, I spoke against the imposition of Emergency. When I was in Congress, I spoke in favour of abrogation of Article 370. Because for me, it is nation first. Emergency is our darkest chapter in history. Uski jayanti nahi, uski barsi humne manayi hai. No one should have guts or thought of imposing it again," said Scindia.
