Delhi CM Rekha Gupta orders probe into Mustafabad building collapse

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Saturday ordered a probe into the building collapse in northeast Delhi's Mustafabad in which 11 people were killed and 11 were injured.

Gupta said the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Delhi Fire Service (DFS), and other agencies are engaged in relief and rescue efforts.

"Arrangements have been made for proper treatment of all the injured," she said.

Fire breaks out at factory in Thane district

A fire broke out at a factory in an industrial area in Maharashtra’s Thane district on Saturday, an official said.

No one was injured in the fire that erupted in the unit located in the Morivali MIDC area of Ambernath (west), said a civic official.

Firefighters from Ambernath, MIDC Ulhasnagar and Badlapur were rushed to the accident site, and the fire was brought under control before it could spread to adjacent factories, he said.

Union minister Piyush Goyal on Saturday said the action by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the National Herald case is aimed at protecting the nation's assets from being "taken over by the Gandhi family for personal use".

Goyal alleged that Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi were involved in a conspiracy to take control of the property, originally meant for public interest, through the now-defunct National Herald newspaper. Read more

Shops vandalised amid tension over 'missing' girl in MP town

Angry mobs ransacked some shops in Sanodha town in Madhya Pradesh's Sagar district on Saturday amid rumours that a girl was abducted by a youth from another religion.

BJP MLA Pradeep Laria claimed the youth who abducted the girl has a criminal background.

District Collector Sandeep GR told reporters that the information about the gathering of some people was received, following which the police and administration teams rushed to the spot.

"Law and order is our prime concern. We have deployed teams. The situation is under control now," he said without divulging details about the incident.

Tigress found dead in MP's Kanha reserve

A tigress was found dead in Kanha Tiger Reserve (KTR) in Madhya Pradesh's Mandla district, an official said on Saturday.

The carcass was spotted in Jamun Tola area under the Kisli range of the KTR on Friday, said Reserve's field director Ravindra Mani Tripathi.

He said the body parts of the big cat were found intact.

Karni Sena activist arrested in Aligarh for objectionable remarks against Akhilesh Yadav

Police in Aligarh have arrested a Karni Sena activist, who announced a bounty on the head of Samajwadi Party MP Ramji Lal Suman last week, after he allegedly used objectionable and provocative language against Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

Police arrested Mohan Chauhan, whose remarks were circulating on social media, on Friday night from his residence under the Jawan police station limits in view of the "threat" to peace posed by his "inflammatory" comments.

Circle officer Abhay Kumar Pandey said the case against Chauhan was registered on the basis of a complaint filed on Wednesday by SP district president Laxmi Dhangar.

Two dead, two injured as excavator skids into gorge in Shimla

Two persons were killed while two others sustained injuries after a JCB excavator plunged into a gorge near Shimla, police said on Saturday.

The deceased have been identified as Sukhdev Singh Rana (31), a resident of Rupnagar district in Punjab, and Hari Nam Singh (30) from Kinnaur district. The injured -- Charanjeet Singh (26) from Punjab and Neeraj Kumar (20) from Bihar -- are undergoing treatment at the Indira Gandhi Medical College (IGMC) in Shimla, police said.

Huge fire at Prayagraj tent supplier warehouse, brought under control after six hours

A huge fire broke out in the warehouse of a company, which supplied tenting materials for the recently-concluded Maha Kumbh, at the Parade Ground early on Saturday, officials said and added the blaze was brought under control after six hours.

While there was no loss of life, two officers and five employees of the fire department suffered minor burn injuries while dousing the flames at the Lallu Ji and Tent Company warehouse in the Daraganj area, they said.

Rajiv Kumar Pandey, Prayagraj's chief fire officer, said the blaze was completely controlled.
