Delhi woke up to a foggy morning on Tuesday as the minimum temperature settled at 9.9 degrees Celsius, two notches above the seasonal average, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The IMD forecasted cloudy skies with a chance of light drizzle during the day, while the maximum temperature is expected to hover around 19 degrees Celsius. Visuals circulating on social media showcased dense fog blanketing the city, including prominent landmarks like Kartavya Path and Barapulla.
The Air Quality Index (AQI), as recorded by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), stood at 398 in the 'very poor' category on Tuesday morning.
Humidity levels in the capital reached 100 percent at 8:30 am, contributing to the foggy conditions. Despite a drizzle on Monday, the air quality showed no improvement and remained in the ‘severe’ category.
Delhi had recorded a minimum temperature of 8.6 degrees Celsius on Monday, a notch below the seasonal average, with humidity levels ranging from 79 percent to 95 percent. Despite intermittent rains and foggy mornings, the capital continues to battle severe air pollution levels.
