The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has changed the name of the Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 Metro station to Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar, marking an official update on the Pink Line of the Delhi Metro network.

The station lies on the Shiv Vihar–Majlis Park stretch in East Delhi.

Confirming the move, a senior official from the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation told Indianexpress.com, "as per the decision taken by the State Names Authority (SNA) Committee, the Mayur Vihar Pocket 1 Metro station in East Delhi renamed as Shree Ram Mandir Mayur Vihar.”

The renamed station continues to function as an important stop on the Pink Line corridor. Earlier identified as Mayur Vihar Pocket 1, it features two platforms that serve trains running in opposite directions.

Platform 1 caters to services heading towards Shiv Vihar and Maujpur-Babarpur, while Platform 2 handles trains bound for Majlis Park.

In terms of infrastructure, the station is equipped with four lifts and three escalators to assist passenger movement.

Commuter facilities at the station include toilets, a first-aid room, and a token vending machine, ensuring basic amenities for daily travellers remain unchanged despite the renaming.

The development comes amid the continued expansion and operation of the Delhi Metro, which remains the longest metro network in the country.

Spanning around 394 kilometres, the network connects the national capital with surrounding cities such as Ghaziabad, Faridabad, Gurugram, Noid,a and Bahadurgarh.

At present, the Delhi Metro system comprises 289 stations across 11 corridors and operates 12 lines.

These include the Red, Yellow, Blue, Green, Violet, Pink, Magenta, Grey, and Orange (Airport Express) lines, along with the Rapid Metro and Noida Metro’s Aqua Line.

Looking ahead, the Phase-IV expansion of the Delhi Metro includes three priority corridors: Majlis Park to Maujpur on the Pink Line, Janakpuri West to RK Ashram Marg on the Magenta Line, and Delhi Aerocity to Tughlakabad on the Golden Line.
