Troubles mounted for Al Falah University chancellor Javed Ahmed Siddiqui as the Enforcement Directorate on Friday accused him of "fraudulently acquiring land" in Delhi's Madanpur Khadar by forging documents in the names of deceased Hindu owners.

The ED found that land was transferred to the Tarbia Education Foundation, a trust linked to chancellor Siddiqui, on the basis of a forged General Power of Attorney (GPA), according to a report by The Times of India.

Several landowners' names, who died between 1972 and 1998, appeared on the GPA documents dated January 7, 2004, and was used to reregister the land.

The transfer has been termed fraudulent by ED as it said the fake documents were the foundation of the acquisition, according to TOI report.

Javed Ahmed Siddiqui, the founder of Al Falah University in Faridabad, was arrested on November 18 by the ED after the varsity came under scrutiny over the involvement of three of its professors in a terror module behind the i20 car blast near Red Fort in Delhi on November 10.

Siddiqui was arrested under Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA), 2002, and continues to remain in ED custody as the probe is underway.

The ED launched raids against the Al Falah University along with its office in Okhla and the university's promoters as initial probe had revealed discrepancies regarding UGC and NAAC recognition, TOI reported.
