Special Cell cracks Pak-backed terror network, recovers arms and explosives

The Delhi Police Special Cell has unearthed a terror module with links to Pakistan and arrested three more suspects, taking the total number of arrests to five, ANI reported. Two of the suspects had been arrested earlier.

Raids were conducted across four to five states, during which nearly eight people were questioned. The arrests include two from Delhi and one each from Madhya Pradesh, Hyderabad, and Ranchi.

Accused in touch with Pakistan-based handlers

According to investigators, the group’s key member, Ashraf Danish, was coordinating operations from India while staying in contact with handlers based in Pakistan through encrypted platforms and multiple social media accounts.

Police sources told ANI that the suspects used these channels not only to stay in touch with their handlers but also to radicalise young people in India and recruit them into their network.

Online propaganda to fuel communal hatred

Investigators revealed that the group ran several online groups to spread communal hatred and disturb religious harmony. These groups are now under scrutiny, and digital accounts linked to the suspects are being verified.

IED materials and arms recovered

From Danish’s possession, police recovered a country-made pistol, live ammunition, chemicals such as hydrochloric acid, nitric acid, sulphur powder, copper sheets, ball bearings, strip wires, and electronic circuits.

Officials said the Special Cell also seized laptops, mobile phones, and cash. These materials are suspected to have been intended for making weapons and explosives.

The investigation is ongoing, with officials working to identify other members of the network and verify international links. Security agencies are also examining whether the group had planned any specific attacks.
