Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is seeking the assistance of Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (DMRC) for an Integrated Data Management System (IDMS) to support its operation and maintenance activities.

DMRC has recently floated a tender for the supply, installation, testing, and commissioning of the IDMS for BMRCL. The last date for tender submission is November 28, and the tender will be opened on December 1.

While Bengaluru Metro, with 96 km of operational network, has been running since 2011, Delhi Metro, with 353 km, has been operational since 2002.

A senior BMRCL official told Moneycontrol: "Based on years of experience, DMRC has developed an IDMS, a software platform designed to cover maintenance functions of a Metro railway, specifically tailored for Operation and Maintenance assets. The system’s major modules cover preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and additional modules to facilitate routine maintenance and operations activities."

He said: "DMRC possesses extensive domain knowledge in operation and maintenance activities, with over 20 years of experience in the Metro field. It also has strong software development expertise and is considered a pioneer in this domain. DMRC’s ability to deliver customised software tailored to BMRCL’s requirements was acknowledged, and it was decided to leverage this expertise for BMRCL."

"After interactions with DMRC, it agreed to suitably customise similar software for BMRCL, with overall responsibility assigned to DMRC. Software development and system integration will be handled by DMRC, considering its domain expertise and software capabilities, while hardware components such as servers and network switches will be procured separately from the open market. For this purpose, DMRC has floated the tender," he added.
