A total of 1,009 active cases have been reported from across India.

Over 100 new Covid-19 cases have been emerged in Delhi on Monday, according to reports.  Out of these cases, 99 were reported last week.

Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh earlier said that 23 cases were reported till Thursday.

"The Delhi government is fully prepared to deal with any situation. We have already coordinated with all medical superintendents, doctors, and their teams across hospitals in the capital," Singh said in a statement.

The Delhi government asked health institutions to send all positive samples for genome sequencing to Lok Nayak Hospital.

A total of 1,009 active cases have been reported from across India, including 12 in West Bengal, 13 in Rajasthan, 15 in Uttar Pradesh, 69 in Tamil Nadu, 47 in Karnataka and 83 in Gujarat.

According to PTI, Bihar on Monday registered the state's first Covid-19 case as a 31-year-old man from Patna tested positive for the infection.

The patient, who is undergoing treatment at a private hospital, has "no history" of travelling outside the state recently.

Several states including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Karnataka have seen also reported fresh cases.

"Most of these cases have been classified as mild and are being managed through home isolation, officials told News 18.

At least four deaths due to Covid have been reported from Maharashtra, two from Kerala, and one from Karnataka.

According to the Health Ministry COVID variants, NB.1.8.1 and LF.7, were found in India recently.

One case of NB.1.8.1 was reported in Tamil Nadu in April, while four cases of LF.7 were detected in May. The World Health Organisation (WHO) has classified both LF.7 and NB.1.8 subvariants as Variants Under Monitoring (VUMs), not as Variants of Concern (VOCs) or Variants of Interest (VOIs). These variants are reportedly behind the surge in Covid-19 cases in China and other parts of Asia.

West Bengal reported four more infections, with patients reporting breathing-related issues at state-run and private hospitals, while Jharkhand also registered the first case.

Health authorities across states have urge the public to maintain preventive measures, stay updated with vaccinations, and avoid unnecessary panic as the country monitors the impact of these new variants closely.
