In a decisive electoral outcome, the BJP clinched 48 seats in Delhi’s 70-member Assembly, marking a significant victory. The AAP, which had enjoyed a stronghold in the past two terms, saw its tally drop to 22, while the Congress remained seatless for the third consecutive election.
This win is a major leap from the last Assembly polls, when the BJP managed only 8 seats.
It also made notable gains across several regions in Delhi, including seats where Muslim voters comprise at least 30% of the electorate.
In 10 such seats, BJP managed to win three of them.
How BJP-performed in Muslim-dominated seats?
BJP made significant gains in key Muslim-dominated constituencies. In constituencies with at least 30% Muslim population, the BJP won 3 seats, marking a gain of 2 compared to 2020.
In Mustafabad, BJP's Mohan Singh Bisht triumphed over AAP’s Adeel Ahmad Khan by 17,578 votes. In Rithala, Kulwant Rana secured a 29,616-vote victory over Mohinder Goyal of AAP. Over in Shahdara, Sanjay Goyal of BJP won by a margin of over 5,178 votes against AAP's Jitender Singh Shunty.
Meanwhile, in a notable shift, the BJP secured 4 of the 12 SC-reserved seats, a stark contrast to 2020, when it failed to win even one.
