Delhi Election 2025 News Live: Deliberate pressure tactics to malign panel, says EC after AAP charges

All banks will remain shut tomorrow in Delhi. All government offices will also remain closed. Similarly, all educational institutions – schools and colleges – will remain closed tomorrow. There is no ban on services of Delhi Metro.

The Chief Electoral Officer of Delhi, R Alice Vaz, met President Droupadi Murmu, to present latter's voter Information Slip for the Delhi Assembly 2025.

As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission, the voting will take place in a single-phase on February 5. The eligible voters will be able to cast their ballots in the designated polling booths from 7.00 am onwards. The result will be announced on February 8.

"Action on issues raised by political parties & candidates are taken in each instance by over 1.5 lakh officials in #DelhiAssemblyElection2025 who are functioning within established legal framework, robust processes & SoPs ensuring fair play&non partisan conduct," says EC.

BJP leader Tarun Chugh says, "The people of Delhi want freedom from Arvind Kejriwal...Congress and Kejriwal are playing a dirty game together... The people of Delhi want freedom from both and a double-engine government under the leadership of PM Modi is the agenda of the people of Delhi, which is clearly visible."

Additional DCP, Rohini, Vishnu Kumar says, "A flag march has been conducted today in view of the Delhi Assembly elections. The election campaign stopped after 6 pm. Patrolling is being done by the police. A message is being conveyed in the area that you should remain calm, cast your vote. Be a part of the elections."

The Delhi Police has deployed a range of measures including paramilitary forces, police personnel, CCTVs, AI-powered cameras, drones, and facial recognition systems to monitor the law and order situation. A total of 35,626 police personnel, along with 6,525 under-training officers, will be on duty for the elections.

AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal claimed that AAP could win 55 of the 70 assembly seats in Delhi. "But if women put in a lot of effort – everyone should go out to vote and convince the men in their house to vote for Aam Aadmi Party – then it can get more than 60 seats," Kejriwal posted on X.

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal said his party had developed a website to ensure the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) ahead of the upcoming Delhi elections. He stated that the initiative was taken following lessons learned from the Maharashtra and Haryana elections, where concerns about EVM tampering had been raised

The Election Commission has prohibited the release of exit polls till 6.30 pm on February 5, the day of voting. The results of Delhi Elections will be announced on February 8.

Among prominent candidates, former AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is contesting from the New Delhi seat. The BJP has fielded Parvesh Verma, a former Member of Parliament and the son of former Delhi Chief Minister Sahib Singh Verma, against Kejriwal. The Congress party has nominated Sandeep Dixit, the son of former Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit, from the same seat.
