In the CCTV, it’s clearly seen how rudely and abusively the girl is speaking and Puneet was a decent person, says Puneet's cousin.

Puneet Khurana took his own life at his residence in Model Town’s Kalyan Vihar area on New Year’s Eve.

A video has surfaced on social media platforms containing a heated exchange between Delhi cafe owner Puneet Khurana and his estranged wife Manika Pahwa, in which Pahwa accuses her husband of “ruining her life.”

Khurana, who took his own life at his residence in Model Town’s Kalyan Vihar area on New Year’s Eve, had allegedly been enduring harassment from his wife and in-laws. His family is now demanding justice, and the police have seized his phone as part of an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death.

The video, which contains strong language, begins with Khurana and his wife seated across from each other in an empty room. The tension is palpable as the couple engages in a heated exchange.

“I’m giving you 10 minutes, sitting here quietly. Tell me what you want to do. Give me a straight answer,” Pahwa said. To this, Khurana replies, “Any day.”

“In the CCTV, it’s clearly seen how rudely and abusively the girl is speaking and Puneet was a decent person. Tell me, where will you find such boys today who don’t react? This is the difference in values, the values our children had, and the values their children have…,” Puneet’s cousin brother Jitendra Khurana said.

In yet another video that has been gaining traction on the Internet, Puneet Khurana can be seen chatting with his father-in-law, Jagdish Pahwa. His father-in-law is heard discussing offering Rs 2 crore in exchange for a house. This video is reportedly from October 12, 2023. However, later, his father-in-law reneged on his statement. According to Puneet’s family, he was under constant pressure because of such matters. They also alleged that his father-in-law frequently threatened him.

Moneycontrol couldn’t independently verify when and where the videos were recorded.

‘Please ensure justice for my son’

Puneet's mother said for a year Khurana and Pahwa were fine, but after that there were frequent issues between the two of them. "I even separated them at one point, thinking it would bring them happiness. But even then, she continued to torture my child. My son quietly endured it all,” Khurana’s mother told ANI.

She pleaded for justice for her son, before adding, “Sometimes it was about money, sometimes about their joint business, and other times family matters. My son never spoke openly, not to his mother or father. He would think, ‘Why burden my parents with tension?’ He kept swallowing his sorrow and pain silently, and I don’t know what she did yesterday. Earlier, he had recovered, but yesterday, she tortured him so much that he took this step.”

Khurana’s family claimed that he left a 59-minute-long video alleging harassment by his wife. They further claimed that Pahwa even hacked his social media account.

“Manika Pahwa, along with her sister and parents, subjected Puneet to relentless mental torture and harassment,” alleged Puneet Khurana’s sister. “There is a 59-minute video recording where Puneet detailed the harassment he endured. She even hacked into his social media accounts,” she claimed, further accusing Pahwa and her family of telling him, “You can’t do anything—if you dare, die by suicide.”
