Delhi braces for more rains, Manali receives fresh snowfall as cold wave grips North India

A cold wave has gripped North India, with parts of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh receiving fresh snowfall on Sunday.

A day after rainfall brought down temperature in Delhi-NCR, the national capital is likely to receive light rain on Sunday as well, according to the weather department. A layer of fog delayed flight and train services.

Delhi received 2.2 mm of rainfall by 8:30 am and the minimum temperature was recorded at 9 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average, PTI reported.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted a generally cloudy sky with light rain during the day on Sunday. The maximum temperature is expected to settle around 16 degrees Celsius. Humidity levels stood at 100 percent at 8.30 am.

The air quality at 9 am was in 'poor' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 284, according to Central Pollution Control Board data.

Fresh snowfall in Manali

As the cold wave gripped most parts of North India, including Himachal Pradesh and jammu and Kashmir, fresh snowfall was witnessed in Manali, Solang Valley and the upper reaches. In the coming days, the temperatures are expected to dip further.

In addition to from Delhi-NCR, several other regions in Punjab, Haryana and Uttarakhand were grappling with falling temperatures and a severe cold wave.

Several areas in Uttarakhand, including Auli and Munsiyari, also received fresh snowfall.
