Delhi blast: Accused doctor used flour mill to extract ammonium nitrate for explosives

At least 15 people lost their lives in the Delhi blast.

Dr Muzamil Shakeel, one of the accused doctors involved in the November 10 Delhi blast which claimed 15 lives, reportedly used a flour mill to prepare chemicals for explosives.

He operated the machine at his rented room in Faridabad, according to a report in NDTV. It is the same place from where the police recovered 360 kg of ammonium nitrate and other explosives a day before the blast that rocked Delhi.

Shakeel allegedly grounded urea in the flour mill to obtain a finer consistency. He then processed it further using an electrical device to refine it into chemical components. The medical licence of the Pulwama resident, who was arrested last week for his role in the Delhi blast, was recently cancelled.

During questioning, Shakeel reportedly admitted that he had been using the flour mill to extract ammonium nitrate from urea and to further refine the explosive material.

As per the findings, the arrested doctor is believed to have transported explosives and facilitated the transfer of the white Hyundai i20 (used in the blast) to the suicide bomber Umar Nabi.

The November 10 blast came shortly after an interstate 'white-collar' terror module was uncovered with the recovery of a huge cache of explosives mainly from Faridabad in Haryana.
