A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed into a medical college complex in Ahmedabad and burst into a ball of fire on Thursday moments after takeoff.

Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani has expressed profound grief over the tragic Air India plane crash that occurred in Ahmedabad on June 12.

In a statement issued today, Ambani conveyed deep sorrow and solidarity with those affected by the tragedy. "Nita and I along with the entire Reliance family are deeply pained and anguished by the grave loss of life caused by the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad. We extend our sincere and heartfelt condolences to all those affected by this tragic incident," he said.

He further said that Reliance extends its 'full and unwavering support' to the ongoing relief efforts and stands 'ready to assist' in every possible way. What happened?

A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 passengers and crew crashed into a medical college complex in Ahmedabad and burst into a ball of fire on Thursday moments after takeoff, possibly killing almost everyone on board in one of the country’s worst air disasters. The police confirmed over 260 deaths, which included 241 of the 242 onboard the ill-fated and those in the hostel building into which the plane crashed.

The police found lone miracle survivor - a British national - who is undergoing treatment. Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani was among the dead, according to BJP leader C R Patil.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Ahmedabad today, confirmed Union Jal Shakti Minister CR Paatil. Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the crash site yesterday. PM Modi spoke to Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu and took stock of the situation.
