Australian cricketer David Warner slammed Air India on Saturday, alleging that passengers were boarded onto a flight without pilots and were left waiting for hours. The airline responded by attributing the delay to weather-related disruptions at Bengaluru airport.

Warner, 38, took to microblogging site X to express his frustration. “We’ve boarded a plane with no pilots and waiting on the plane for hours. Why would you board passengers knowing that you have no pilots for the flight?” he posted.

Air India clarified that challenging weather conditions in Bengaluru had caused multiple flight diversions and delays, affecting all airlines. The airline stated that the operating crew for Warner’s flight had been delayed due to an earlier assignment impacted by these disruptions.

“The crew operating your flight was held up on an earlier assignment affected by these disruptions, which led to a delay in departure. We appreciate your patience and thank you for choosing to fly with us,” Air India said in a post on X.

Further details regarding the incident were not immediately available.

While Warner is not participating in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) after going unsold in the recent mega-auction, he is set to play in England’s The Hundred, having been drafted by the London Spirit. He will also feature in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) with the Karachi Kings, who signed him in the 2025 draft.

In addition to cricket, Warner is set to make his acting debut in the Telugu film Robinhood. The Australian batter, who had an eight-year stint with Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL, remains a popular figure among Indian cricket fans.

Warner last represented Australia during the T20 World Cup 2024 before retiring from Test cricket after the home series against Pakistan in January 2024. He also announced his ODI retirement after helping Australia clinch the 2023 World Cup in Ahmedabad. Despite stepping away from international cricket, he continues to be a key performer in franchise leagues worldwide.
